Our camp is located in the small, authentic coastal town of Akyaka in southwestern Turkey – part of the Cittaslow movement, where life moves at a calm pace with a focus on local culture, sustainability, and the beauty of nature.

Akyaka sits right on the Aegean Sea and is surrounded by mountains, lush forests, and the crystal-clear Azmak River, which flows right past our hotel. The town is known for its steady thermal onshore winds, which usually begin around 11 AM and blow consistently until sunset, typically ranging from 7 to 10 m/s. Since the wind is thermal, it won’t appear on standard weather or surf forecasts, but it’s impressively stable, consistent, and rarely gusty. This makes Akyaka one of Europe’s most reliable and beginner-friendly kitesurf spots.

Here, you can kite in flat water and stand up as far as 150 meters from shore – ideal for both beginners and more experienced riders. Akyaka also offers great conditions for foil, freeride, and freestyle – all in a peaceful and stunning natural setting.

Although the town is small, it has everything you need: cosy cafés, good restaurants, small local shops, and a traditional market. The vibe is laid-back and friendly, and no one’s trying to sell you anything on every corner. It’s a place that invites presence, peace, and that true holiday feeling.

In September and October, daytime temperatures are usually around 26–30°C. Many people kite in swimwear or a shorty. The water is warm, and the wind is steady, although in week 42, you can expect slightly lighter wind, but still good conditions.
