Join “The hunt for the best snow” and get the most optimal off-piste conditions.

Join us in Slovenia and experience freeriding with our local mountain guide. The entire concept of “Hunt for the best snow” gives you the greatest flexibility in the search for the best off-piste conditions. It’s also a trip for those of you who may not have many days off and want the best possible conditions now that you’re finally on the slopes.

In practice, you will fly to Ljubljana Jože Pucnik, Klagenfurt, or Zagreb airport. From there, you’ll head to a hotel in the city of Bled (either on your own or by booking a transfer as an add-on).

The plan for the rest of your trip will be organized by the mountain guide a couple of days prior to your arrival, ensuring the best possible snow and conditions.

If you’re a group of friends or colleagues looking to embark on this adventure (minimum of 4 people), we can easily arrange a private tour exclusively for your group on a date of your choice. Additionally, for groups of 6 people, we offer a 15% discount on the tour.

The chase for the best snow in Slovenia

Our mountain guide is local and knows where all the secret and amazing slopes are to be found. In addition, he knows the conditions in the mountains in and around Slovenia and has many years of freeride experience.

What we know for sure on this trip is: the available dates for your departure and that you will be accommodated in a hotel in the town of Bled in Slovenia. Each tour will have a maximum of 6 guests, excluding our mountain guide.

There are many opportunities to find great off-piste skiing areas just 30 minutes away from the hotel. However, depending on various weather conditions, transportation may take up to 1.5 hours in search of the best snow.

We tested this concept in the Innsbruck area in 2021, and it was a huge success. We achieved exactly what we set out to do: finding the best possible snow for our guests. Read reviews from the trip here.

Possible ski areas

We will focus on the Julian Alps, which are located in Slovenia and Italy. Although the region is not as well known for skiing as some other areas in the Alps, there are a few ski resorts in the Julian Alps that offer great freeride opportunities, and with very few other skiers in the off-piste. Below are a few of the areas.

Kranjska Gora Ski Resort (Slovenia): Located in Slovenia near the border with Austria and Italy. Kranjska Gora is one of the most famous ski resorts in the Julian Alps and has hosted several World Cups in skiing.

Vogel Ski Resort (Slovenia): Situated in the Triglav National Park, Vogel Ski Resort offers stunning views of Lake Bohinj and the surrounding Julian Alps. With its highly varied terrain, it is very popular among freeride skiers and snowboarders.

Sella Nevea Ski Resort (Italy): Located on the Italian side of the Julian Alps, near the border with Slovenia and is a smaller, very picturesque ski resort. In addition to the many off-piste options, Sella Nevea is known for its beautiful natural surroundings.

Kanin-Sella Nevea Ski Resort (Slovenia/Italy): Positioned on the border between Slovenia and Italy, with Kanin on the Slovenian side, this resort is known for its large amounts of snowfall every year.

Level of participation

To join this trip, participants should have experience with off-piste skiing. It is not necessary to have several ski seasons under your belt, but you should be comfortable skiing off-piste alongside the slopes.

We will use lifts as much as possible to access the best off-piste areas, but expect to do some ski touring a few times a day, as it gives us far more opportunities. The length of ski touring may vary depending on snow conditions but typically does not exceed 500 meters of altitude per day divided into 3-6 tours. If you prefer a dedicated ski touring tour, we arrange several tours throughout the season.

1: Arrival at the airport in the evening. Transfer to the town of Bled (either on your own or by booking a transfer as an add-on). Latest arrival is 21:00.
2: Accommodation in a hotel in Bled.

Day 2-4:

1: Breakfast.
2: Info about the day’s area, safety etc.
3: Off-piste skiing with mountain guide.

Day 5 – Departure day:

1: Breakfast.
2: No skiing on the day of departure.
3: Transfer to airport (either on your own or by booking a transfer as an add-on).

Location and accommodation

As mentioned, the ski area for the trip is not predetermined. It is carefully planned by our local mountain guide a few days in advance. This allows the guide to have the most up-to-date weather forecasts and optimal conditions to plan the trip accordingly. We have all experienced being on a ski vacation where we regretted not choosing the destination right next door because there were better conditions that week. We want to avoid that feeling, as the ultimate goal is to chase the best snow precisely during the days we are away.

Since there are several ski resorts in and around Slovenia, we can guarantee that our mountain guide will find the best possible conditions for you. He knows the area like the back of his hand.

Bled in Slovenia is a wonderful destination for winter enthusiasts who want to experience fantastic skiing in a beautiful setting. This picturesque town, known for its enchanting lake and castle, transforms into a skier’s paradise during winter. Bled is located near several ski resorts in the Julian Alps, making it a perfect base for a skiing vacation.
