Join our unique concept “The Hunt for the Best Snow” and experience world-class off-piste skiing in Slovenia and Italy.

Come with us to Slovenia (and across the border to Italy!) for an unforgettable freeride adventure led by our experienced mountain guides. The idea behind The Hunt for the Best Snow is simple – maximum flexibility to make sure you enjoy the very best powder conditions. Your guide will finalize the plan just a few days before your arrival, ensuring we take you where the snow is at its absolute best.

This trip is designed for different levels of riders. Our guides split the group based on experience, so everyone gets the right level of challenge, personalized coaching, and the chance to make the most of their time in the mountains. Whether you’re traveling solo, with a partner, a friend, or a small group, you’ll share this adventure with like-minded people who also dream of chasing the best snow.

We first ran this concept in 2022, and it was a huge success – loved by our guests and now back by popular demand.

Possible ski areas

We’ll focus on the Julian Alps, which stretch across Slovenia and Italy. While not as famous as some other Alpine regions, the Julian Alps offer incredible freeride opportunities – but with far fewer people competing for fresh tracks. Here are some of the areas we may ride:

Kranjska Gora (Slovenia): Close to the Austrian and Italian borders, Kranjska Gora is Slovenia’s most famous ski resort and has hosted several World Cup races.

Vogel (Slovenia): Located in Triglav National Park, Vogel overlooks Lake Bohinj and the surrounding Julian Alps. Its diverse terrain makes it a favorite among freeriders and snowboarders.

Sella Nevea (Italy): On the Italian side of the Julian Alps, this smaller, scenic resort is known for its stunning natural surroundings and plentiful off-piste options.

Kanin-Sella Nevea (Slovenia/Italy): Straddling the border, this area is famous for its consistently heavy snowfall and big freeride potential.

Skill Level

To join this trip, you should have some off-piste experience. You don’t need multiple seasons under your belt, but you should be comfortable skiing powder just off the groomed runs.

We’ll use lifts as much as possible to reach the best terrain, but you can also expect some ski touring (skins) each day to open up more options. Typically, this won’t exceed 500 vertical meters per day, split into 3-6 short tours. If you’re after a dedicated ski touring trip instead, we also run several of those in other destinations.

If you’re a group of friends, colleagues, or family (minimum 4 people), we can arrange a private trip exclusively for your group, on dates that suit you. For groups of 6, we also offer a 15% discount.

The trip to Slovenia

The flight is not included in the price. There are several flight options, with the easiest being to land at Ljubljana Jože Pucnik, Klagenfurt or Zagreb airport.

Day 1 – Arrival day:

Arrival at the airport sometime in the afternoon or evening
Transfer to Bled (either on your own or by booking our optional transfer service)
Check in at the hotel in Bled and settle in

Note: Latest arrival is 21:00

Day 2-4:

Start the day with a hearty breakfast
Morning briefing where we go through the day’s area, safety, and key info
Full day of off-piste skiing with your mountain guide
Back at the hotel, we decide on a dinner spot together and recharge for the next day

Day 5 – Departure day:

A good breakfast to start the day
No skiing on departure day
Transfer to the airport (either on your own or by booking our optional transfer service)
Time to say goodbye – for now!

Location and accommodation

As we mentioned earlier, the exact ski areas are not set in advance – instead, they’re carefully chosen by our local mountain guide, based on where the conditions are best at the time. We’ve all been on ski trips where we wished we had picked the resort just next door because the snow was better that week, and that’s exactly what we want to avoid. The whole idea is to make sure we find the very best snow during the days we’re there.

Our focus will be on the Julian Alps, spanning both Slovenia and Italy. While the region may not be as famous as some of the larger Alpine destinations, it offers incredible freeride opportunities – with the added bonus of fewer skiers in the off-piste areas.
