This trip is designed to adapt to you: travel when it suits you and choose whether to hire a mountain guide to help explore the legendary off-piste terrain, including the iconic Vallée Blanche. This classic route starts at the top of the Aiguille du Midi lift at 3,812 meters and winds its way down the glacier, dropping a total of 2,800 meters, before finishing at the Montenvers train station—or, if snow conditions allow, right in the heart of Chamonix.

Just 90 minutes from Geneva, Chamonix is often called the capital of the Alps and is one of our favorite destinations in Europe. The area offers four distinct ski zones, each with its own character and challenges, making it perfect for skiers looking for variety and adventure.

Chamonix is a true classic among ski resorts, and for good reason. Nestled at the foot of Mont Blanc, Western Europe’s highest peak, the town has drawn skiers and mountain enthusiasts from all over the world for over a century. Here, French alpine charm meets an international atmosphere, with lively streets, authentic restaurants, and a buzzing après-ski scene.

The skiing is as varied as it is legendary, from steep glacier runs to gentler slopes with breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc massif. Areas like Brévent, Flégère, and Grands Montets offer something for every level, while Vallée Blanche stands out for those seeking off-piste adventure – one of the world’s most iconic freeride routes.

In short: Chamonix lives up to its reputation, whether you’re chasing powder or simply want to experience the heart of the Alps.

More Than Just Great Skiing

Chamonix isn’t just a paradise for skiers, it also offers a rich culture and plenty of activities beyond the slopes. If you want a break from skiing, the town has plenty to explore:

  • Musée Alpin: Dive into Chamonix’s history and the evolution of mountaineering. Learn about the early pioneers who first summited Mont Blanc and how the town became an international winter sports hub.

  • Family Activities: Ice skating, swimming pools, and the thrilling Aiguille du Midi cable car with jaw-dropping views over the Mont Blanc massif.

  • Relaxation: After a long day on the slopes, enjoy one of the town’s spa and wellness centers for a massage or some well-earned downtime.
