Off-piste & Catski | Bakhmaro | Georgia
Ready for a new adventure? Join us for a catskiing trip in Georgia, stay at a modern mountain lodge – and have the whole mountain (basically) to yourself.
Book nowWe first traveled to Bakhmaro in Georgia back in 2020, and it had everything we were looking for! Since then, we’ve returned every year, drawn by the sense of adventure, the deep snow, and the incredible conditions for off-piste skiing.
Bakhmaro, where we’ll be based during the trip, is located close to the Black Sea. Thanks to its location and cold temperatures, it gets up to 10 meters of snow each winter. You’re far away from the crowded resorts and busy lifts here – with the mountains almost entirely to yourself.
But this place offers more than just world-class freeriding. Staying here means you’ll also experience a unique glimpse into the local culture. We stay at modern, authentic mountain lodges built for freeriders – by freeriders. And of course, you’ll feel the warmth of true Georgian hospitality everywhere you go.

The mountain range we’re based in is called Bakhmaro – a small, hidden gem in the Guria region of western Georgia, sitting between 1700 and 2800 meters above sea level. Still quite remote, this area offers a truly magical atmosphere, where breathtaking views meet untouched nature. The landscape is stunning, and the valley is dotted with charming wooden cabins that add to its unique character.
The mountains here usually see their first snowfall as early as September, and thanks to the consistently low temperatures, the region receives up to ten meters of snow each winter.
There are also plenty of chances to experience the local culture and traditions! Georgia is famous for its warm hospitality – here, kindness isn’t just expected, it’s deeply rooted in everyday life. Whether you’re stepping into a hotel, a restaurant, or someone’s home, you’ll feel that genuine welcome right away.
In mountain areas like Bakhmaro, life is still closely tied to nature, and locals take real pride in welcoming visitors. It doesn’t matter if you’re a friend, a stranger, or just passing through with skis on your back – you’ll quickly feel like part of the community.

For the 2026 season, we have upgraded our accommodation in Georgia!
We now stay at either Riders Lodge or The Pioneers – two modern mountain hotels created by freeriders, for freeriders.
Here, you’ll find everything you need after a long day in the powder:
– Warm, cozy rooms (2-4 people) – all with private bathrooms and toilets
– Chill-out areas with a fireplace/wood stove and a bar for relaxing and après-ski
– Sauna
– Drying rooms for gear and ski boots
– Delicious local food
A true freeride community accommodation where you can meet other passionate off-piste skiers.
It’s not luxury in the traditional sense, but it’s comfortable, authentic, and purpose-built for what we are here for: skiing.
Everything is designed to give you the best conditions for unforgettable ski adventures and a strong sense of community in the mountains.

Freeride / Catskiing in Georgia is brilliant.
The place is remote = only the skiers with whom you share the cat and cabin.
The snow, guides and tours were super cool with both wide expanses and forest skiing.
The food was beyond expectation.
The cosiness in the cottage is world class.
Room and toilet conditions are above all expectations too, in terms of how remote the place is, and saunagsu is brilliant after a long day of skiing.
