Many believe that Engelberg has the best off-piste in the Alps, at least we think so. One thing is for sure and that is that Engelberg has guaranteed snow and gets up to 7 meters of snow every winter. Ride with us in pristine off-piste slopes – our ski instructors and mountain guides are ready to show you the way!

Until about 10 years ago, Engelberg was a fairly unknown ski resort, but rumors of the fantastic off-piste and more than 100 km. slopes have made the city an attractive place for skiers. In addition, the city also offers cozy “après ski”, a very gastronomic experiences and the opportunity for many other adventure experiences in addition to off-piste skiing.

Engelberg is a perfect destination for a whole week, but also for the shorter trip, as it is close to the airport in Zurich.

Fantastic ski opportunities in Engelberg

Engelberg is beautifully situated at the end of the valley and overlooks mountain peaks of over 3,000 meters. Skiing starts from the city’s altitude of 1,050 meters and is spread over the two mountains, Titlis and Brunni, where Titlis has some of the highest drop meters in the Alps. The longest descent is about 12 kilometers and goes from the top of Titlis and down into the valley with a difference of 2000 meters. You will find untouched powder snow, lots of off-piste skiing and challenges for everyone regardless of level.

Engelberg Ski Resort introduced “The Big Five” many years ago to identify their classic off-piste rides and areas. The Big Five has since become larger and more areas are today a part of Engelberg’s brand.

Engelberg also has the first rotating gondola that takes us all the way up to the top of Titlis, where you have the opportunity for an off-piste route of 2000 meters with glaciers and impressive mountain sides.

Engelberg is close to Zurich Airport, making it an easily accessible ski area. Most ski resorts are located along the border with France, Italy or Austria, but Engelberg is located in a small valley in the middle of Switzerland. The village has 3500 inhabitants and the village is very idyllic. Imagine the Grand Canyon, with layers of horizontal cliffs, snow-capped mountain peaks where you will find ancient castle ruins and then you have to multiply by the approximately 7 meters of snow they receive on average each winter.

Transport from airport to Engelberg

From Zurich Airport you can take the train directly to Engelberg with only one or two stops, which take approx. 2 hours.

A super concept and absolutely perfect for a long weekend.

My husband and I went from Thursday to Sunday and had 2.5 fantastic days in Engelberg.

We will definitely go again this winter.
