The level of experience needed for our off-piste trips varies by destination – some are designed for more advanced skiers, while others are perfect for those trying off-piste for the very first time.
At DBP Adventures, we live for off-piste skiing and untouched terrain. Over the years, we’ve traveled the world in search of hidden gems, handpicking truly unique destinations that let us do what we love most: chase first tracks.

Off-piste skiing is a whole different experience compared to the slopes, both in terms of feel and technique. If you’ve never tried it before but are eager to learn – or want to boost your confidence – we offer several development trips to North Macedonia. Here, you’ll spend plenty of time off-piste while also getting theory sessions and video analysis with our experienced instructors.
Below, you’ll find a guide to the difficulty level of the different destinations we visit. Keep in mind that snow conditions always play a role. Even if a destination is listed as “beginner-friendly,” experienced skiers can always find extra challenges by choosing alternative lines down the mountain.
Not sure which trip fits your level? Reach out to us – we’re happy to help you find the perfect adventure.
Beginner
For those who have never skied off-piste before, or have only tried it just outside the groomed slopes.
Engelberg, Switzerland
Nestled at the end of a valley and surrounded by peaks over 3,000 meters, Engelberg offers plenty of untouched powder and fantastic skiing. The area stretches from the village at 1,050 meters up across the Titlis and Brunni mountains, with Titlis providing some of the biggest vertical drops in the Alps.
The longest run stretches 12 km with a vertical descent of 2,000 meters from the top of Titlis down to the valley. You’ll find plenty of powder, countless off-piste lines, and challenges for all levels. Guides and instructors are available if you want to improve your skills.
North Macedonia & Development Weeks
In North Macedonia, there are no lift systems – instead, we ride up the mountain in a snowcat (a grooming machine with seating for 16 passengers). This makes it an ideal place to take your first turns off-piste.
Every year, we run several development weeks with different focuses: snowboard, skiing, girls-only, and 50+. During these days, you can learn the basics or refine your technique with our instructors.
Avalanche risk here is generally lower than in the Alps, thanks to the rounded shapes of the mountains and the grassy terrain, which helps the snowpack stick and settle.

Intermediate / Confident Rider
For those who’ve already had a taste of off-piste skiing and feel comfortable with the basics. These trips are all about powder, adventure, and sharing the mountain with like-minded riders.
Canada
Join us for an 11-day road trip along the legendary Powder Highway, where we visit five of Canada’s most iconic off-piste areas. We travel as a group with a Scandinavian mountain guide, and to join, you should be a confident skier or snowboarder to ensure the group keeps a good flow and rhythm.
Japan
Over eight days (seven nights), we explore the deep snow and remote wilderness of Tohoku. Six full days are spent skiing or riding, split between two different bases. To join this trip, you should have some off-piste experience and feel comfortable heading into untracked terrain without an instructor.
North Macedonia
Our flexible catski trips in North Macedonia are perfect for those who feel confident skiing without an instructor but want to share the experience with others who live for powder and mountain adventures.
Austria
Our “Hunt the Best Snow” concept is designed for maximum flexibility – and to make sure you always find the best off-piste conditions available.
The trip suits all experience levels, as our guides divide the group based on ability and background. This means you’ll get a personalized off-piste experience – and make the most of every run on your adventure.

Advanced
For experienced off-piste skiers who feel confident in all types of terrain and want to take their riding to the next level, we’ve handpicked a few truly special destinations.
La Grave, France
La Grave is a true mecca for off-piste skiers – the world’s largest lift-accessed freeride area and a legendary destination that attracts powder lovers from every corner of the globe. Here, it’s all about raw terrain, big lines, and a pure mountain experience.
Heli-Skiing in Canada
From Revelstoke, we have access to both the Monashee and Selkirk Mountains – famous for deep powder, incredible tree skiing, and vast alpine glacier terrain. This trip demands good fitness and solid experience, but you don’t need to be a pro to join. Just bring your passion for big mountains and long days in untouched snow.
Chamonix, France
The capital of the Alps and home to some of the most iconic runs in the world. The most famous is Vallée Blanche – starting at 3,812 m on Aiguille du Midi and descending 2,800 vertical meters across the glacier. We run several trips here with local guides, exploring different lines depending on snow and conditions.

For Families
Catski in North Macedonia: Family Adventure
New! This winter, you can bring the whole family on an unforgettable adventure in North Macedonia. Our family catski development trip is designed for those who want to enjoy powder skiing together – with a focus on easy off-piste runs, cozy moments at the lodge, and memorable days in the mountains.
La Clusaz, France
We know how tricky it can be to balance family life with your love for the mountains – that’s why we’ve created a trip where everyone can join in. Here, skiing, family time, and mountain adventure go hand in hand, so you can share the experience instead of choosing between them.
Safety in the Off-Piste
No matter which trip you choose, safety is always our top priority. All our guided off-piste trips include avalanche safety training and hands-on practice with rescue equipment. Every participant must carry a backpack with essential gear – sometimes it’s included, other times available to rent. Check the details for each trip or reach out to us for more info.
